Beginning with a collaboration in India, Moodsonic is now part of GSK’s global workplace strategy, with installations across Asia-Pacific, North America and Europe – including their new London HQ, which aspires to the the “healthiest workplace in the world” and is targeting WELL Platinum and BREEAM Outstanding accreditations.
“Moodsonic makes people more focused and peaceful in the office. We get feedback from people that when they're at home they really miss having the sound around them for better focus to do their work.” – Workplace Operations Manager Europe, GSK
GSK has validated the effectiveness of Moodsonic’s soundscaping through in-depth research initiatives in real-world testing on three continents. This research includes biometric data collection from wearables, measures of subjective preferences and productivity data.
Change management is a crucial part of any sensory design initiative – including soundscaping. Moodsonic works closely with GSK’s local workplace teams and champions to prioritize communication and other change management strategies so that employees understand the purpose of the soundscaping and the options available to them.
Moodsonic plays an integral role in GSK's biophilic workplace strategies. GSK's offices include biophilic elements such as plants, organic materials and color schemes, circadian lighting, scent, and, of course, soundscaping. Research shows that biophilic soundscaping is most impactful when used alongside other biophilic design elements.
This multi-sensory approach to workplace design has been pivotal in helping GSK achieve the highest WELL Building Certifications. Commercial Real Estate reports that "implementing neurodiverse zoning, circadian lighting, Moodsonic soundscaping and biophilia gave the company the edge up" to help GSK achieve Platinum certification at its Melbourne office.
Recognizing that people have diverse sensory needs, GSK uses Moodsonic soundscaping as part of its inclusive workplace design strategy. Across sites, neurodiverse zoning tailors neighborhoods for various cognitive styles and sensory preferences, ensuring everyone feels supported and empowered. The soundscaping elevates these design objectives, creating spaces that range from calming and quiet through to lively and stimulating.
This thoughtful approach to workplace experience is combined with the integration of technology that delivers these concepts successfully. GSK's new global headquarters in London prioritizes inclusive design, including 12 storeys of Moodsonic soundscaping, and was awarded Best Smart Building at ISE 2025. The judges explained, "A standout achievement was the deployment of over 700 smart sensors monitoring air quality, occupancy, CO2 levels, and light conditions, enabling real-time environmental adjustments. Judges commended the integration of Appspace digital signage and wayfinding, which provides live air quality data and directs employees to optimal workspaces. The Moodsonic soundscaping system - the largest of its kind in Europe -was also highlighted, intelligently adapting ambient sound to enhance focus and comfort across 12 floors."
“Operationally, this is a great tool – ensuring that employees are comfortable, that they are working at their optimal abilities.” – Workplace Operations Manager APAC, GSK
GSK's soundscaped offices have won awards and certifications globally. Employee feedback and research has highlighted a range of benefits orientated around wellbeing, focus, collaboration and innovation.
"This office is one of the greatest unexpected perks I could have ever imagined."
